Info: If you are running a server, you don't have to do anything to make the server compatible with S3TC textures. In fact, you should never install the S3TC textures on a server ! S3TC textures are only ment to use clientsided not serversided !
   







A server without S3TC textures installed


If a player using normal textures enters a server without S3TC textures installed, than his Unreal uses the textures installed with his game. The same aplies for a client using S3TC textures, his game also will use the textures that are installed clientsided, in this case the S3TC textures.

If there's a map on rotation that has custum textures than both type of clients will download the textures from the server, and will use those. In this case both clients will see the normal custum made textures that belong to that map.





A server with S3TC textures installed (not good)


If that would be the case than a client using normal Unreal textures will start downloading the S3TC files from the server, creating big downloads. Than, once the client has the texures downloaded, Unreal does not know how to handle them, cause they need OpenGL and S3TC support. The result is that, that player once entered the server either will chrash or at best the textures will look completelly mangled up.

In no way you should install S3TC textures on your server !!!!
